Painting is permission to side-step prescribed thought patterns, to design a new balance, to bring forward questions that require strange logic; to make a world and run around in it. Rationalizing leaves me with a room of plastic furniture. What are the forms that perpetually cycle back? Will painting them out open a new door or will I keep spinning in their loop? In the process: Holding a vigil to not overthink (overpaint); to self-trust. Exorcising ghosts and painting out painter’s forms (shape, color, location). Resisting cinematic, automatic, pretty plastic furniture.
